Emmanuel Gira is a security specialist, researcher and investigative journalist with expertise and interest in countering violent extremism, terrorism, organised crime, and youth radicalisation. He holds a master’s degree in Terrorism, International Crime, and Global Security from Coventry University, UK, Level 7 Certification in Strategic Leadership and Management from Chartered Management Institute, and a portfolio of training in security risk analysis, cyberspace surveillance, facts checking and digital media safety.

Previously, he worked as an investigative reporter and broadcast producer for over seven years in Northern Uganda during and after the Lord’s Resistance Army war. Emmanuel has extensive experience in African security and has worked on different academic and non-academic projects on the security crisis in West Africa, especially the Lake Chad Basin countries of Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Chad, Boko Haram Terrorism, Civil war in the democratic republic of Congo and Al-Shabaab terrorism in the East and Horn of Africa. In addition, Emmanuel is an independent researcher and consultant on security threats and political risks, travel security information, digital media and cyber security policy and legislation.
